JESSE ISRAEL (MICHAEL2 ISRAEL*, SOLOMON1 ISRAEL) was born Abt. 1767 in Albemarle County, VA, and died 1806.  He married MARY JONES, daughter of JOSHUA JONES.

Notes for JESSE ISRAEL:
Jesse moved with his parents to Wilkes County, NC aabout 1778.  It is thought that Jesse Israel was named for an uncle, Jesse Israel, who was killed during the Revolutionary War.

While in Wilkes County, NC, Jesse married Mary Jones.  Sometime (1795-1797) after the marriage, Jesse along with his brother John and his father-in-law, Joshua Jones, left Wilkes County and went to Buncombe County, NC.  The land Jesse bought was on Laurel Branch where it joins the North Fork.

This letter belongs to Glendora Dowell, Rt. 1, Box 111, Pall Mall, TN38577.  It was zeroxed on Feb. 11, 1982.  It was found in an old bucket in a house once owned by her grandfather, Henry Hyso.

JANE ISRAEL (JOHNSTON3, MICHAEL2 ISRAEL*, SOLOMON1 ISRAEL) was born Abt. 1800 in Henderson County, NC?.  She married UNKNOWN.

Notes for JANE ISRAEL:
Jane was never married.  According to Dr. Israel, Jane had a long standing relationship with the son of a prominent local businessman and political leader.  The son was required to marry "appropriately" and later became governor of NC.  He continued to take care of Jane's sons and saw to it that they received excellent educations and remained in positions of respect.  So far, there is little proof, just supposition.
