Nathan retired with 42 years from the Great Northern Railroad. He moved to Glasgow, Montana, in April of 1916. About the time his Father moved to Granite Falls. He married first in NC and had one child, Frances Mays, Jr. Nathan married secondly to Helen M. Smith, August 4 1907 - Nov 29 1980. Nathan died Dec 25 1978 in Havre, Montana. Nathan and Helen resided in Havre, Montana and had three children:

Harvy Alvin Mays born 24 Nov 1929 married Francis Stalvey of Hahira, GA.

Lois Evelyn Mays born 18 Dec 1935 married Fenny Dan Baker on June 19 1954 at Havre Montana.

Olive Virginia Mays born 24 Jan 1939 married Mark H Anderson.
